- ATLAND
- Abort to Land
- ATL
- Abort to Loiter
- Abort to Ground
- An emergency procedure where the UA is immediately landed at its current location. This procedure is flown by the pilot - not an automated landing.
- Abort to Land
- An emergency procedure where the UA is immediately returned to the LRA for landing.
- Abort to Loiter
- An emergency procedure where the UA holds its current position. Used for transient safety issues.
- Emergency Landing
- An automated, system level, emergency procedure (typically in Skydio aircraft) where the UA will automatically land without pilot input or intervention.
- Flight Termination
- A deliberate crash
- GCS
- Ground Control Station. The controller, tablet, computer, etc that provides the primary pilot interface and command/control link to the UA.
- Mission
- A collection of one or more sorties conducted to accomplish a specific task or objective.
- Sortie
- A single flight of the UA, from launch to landing. Multiple sorties may comprise a single mission.
- UA
- Unmanned aircraft. The airborne component of the UAS.
- UAS
- Unmanned aircraft system. The complete system - the UA, the payload, the GCS, the crew, and associated policies, etc.
- UAS Module
- An organizational unit comprising multiple UAS teams.
- UAS Team
- An organizational unit comprised of at least one RPIC and one VO operating one UA. Multiple teams plus support elements comprise a module.
