About Us

Janet Dilling

Dr. Dilling is one of the core faculty members of the EMHS program and a Faculty in Residence.  Before coming to FSU, she was an Emergency Management practitioner for the military, local, and state government and served as the founder and director of the EMHS Program and  FSU’s Center for Disaster Risk Policy for ten years.  She remains a Senior Fellow at the Center.  She is past President of the American Society of Professional Emergency Planners and has served on numerous state, national, and international advisory boards and committees.  She has been a consultant or speaker in over 34 countries in the field of disaster management.

Her areas of interest include domestic and international disaster management; organizational development and culture; and computer mediated communication.  Dr. Dilling teaches the Foundations of Emergency Management, Emergency Management Programs, Planning, and Policy, and the International Disaster Management classes for the Program.
