Alissa received her Master of Arts from the University of West Florida and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida. After graduate school she went on to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kingdom of Swaziland. She currently works as an Academic Program Assistant for the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program.
Judith is a research assistant from Nicaragua. She is currently a PhD student in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning working on a dissertation that mixes both Urban Planning and Emergency Management. Prior to working for the Center for Disaster Risk Policy she was finishing her masters in engineering at Kyoto University which makes her our sushi connoisseur. She has conducted research in Japan, Nicaragua, and the Philippines. As part of her work as a research assistant she has coordinated and conducted research on the topic of informal settlements and emergency management efforts in developing countries. She also functionas as a Graduate Assistant for the International and Comparative Disaster Management courses.
Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts from University of Colorado Boulder in International Affairs and Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Cultures. She lived in both Norwich, England and São Paulo, Brazil as an undergrad. After completing a year of AmeriCorps working with public schools in Denver, CO she found her way to Florida and is currently a research assistant for the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program.
